Dr. Hitomi Masuhara is Higher Education Academy Fellow, a lecturer in the University of Liverpool and Secretary of MATSDA (Materials Development Association). She has worked as a senior high school teacher and as a university academic for seven universities in Japan, Oman, Singapore, and UK. She has won various awards including Fulbright, The British Council Scholar, Vice Chancellor Awards for Innovation. She has been involved in many international projects and given presentations and workshops in more than 40 countries, including China. She has more than 50 publications, consisting of books, book chapters and articles. Her recent publications include The complete guide to the theory and practice of materials development for language learning (Wiley, 2017 – co-authored with B. Tomlinson) and Practice and theory for materials development in L2 learning (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2017 – as the lead Editor). She is currently working with Brian Tomlinson on SLA Applied: The application of second language research to language learning (to be published by Cambridge University Press in 2019).
